One of the words Lieutenant Kriplean uses to describe herself is "driven." She says she inherited that drive from her father, a member of the United States Army's elite Golden Knights Parachute Team, known for its unique and skilled demonstrations at airshows and other events across the country.
She began her career here in Coconut Creek as a telecommunicator in 1997. Over the next four years, she honed her skills in emergency communications, graduated with a degree in biology from Florida Atlantic, and driven by her interest in public service, set a goal to become a police officer. She met that goal in 2001 after being promoted to a sworn police officer position here at the Coconut Creek Police Department. Following more than a decade as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2014.
In March 2019, she was appointed to supervise the Traffic Unit, overseeing the education and enforcement of all traffic safety initiatives here in Coconut Creek. We are happy to feature her on this week's "Blue Honor Series" as she continues her drive to be the best police officer she can be. In 2020, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and now supervises Patrol Team 2.
