Detective Clint Corey makes you feel like Disney! From the smiles he creates when you see him in his authentic Elvis costume, to the friendships he has cultivated as the department’s liaison to the Special Olympics community, to the admiration
he has earned from his fellow officers, Detective Corey is the type of person who makes you feel better just for knowing him.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Clint moved with his family to Florida in 1989. He graduated from Coconut Creek High School in 1995. Clint later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management from Florida Atlantic University. Clint was hired
by the City of Coconut Creek as a Park Ranger in 1998. Four years later, he took his first big step up the career ladder by becoming a Code Compliance Officer. In 2004, he took another big step up when he joined the Police Department. Clint was
a Road Patrol Officer, and then a School Resource Officer, before becoming a Detective in 2013. In the Criminal Investigations Section, Clint has demonstrated a tenacious spirit for investigative work. He has had significant and well documented
success in identifying dangerous suspects, locating critical evidence, and assisting the State Attorney’s Office to prosecute criminal offenders.
When not at work, Clint is usually known to be barbecuing or working on another project at home with his wife, son, and daughter. For a lucky few, they can find Clint performing on small local stages. In his 20s, building off his affinity for Elvis
Presley, and his family’s observation that he was an entertaining act, he became an Elvis impersonator. Early in his Elvis career, Clint used his act to earn extra money, and he even once performed to a crowd of over 2,500 people at a Code
Enforcement Convention. Nowadays, and although highly requested, he only breaks out his Elvis jumpsuit for very special occasions and select audiences (pro-bono of course). But he enjoys a hobby that still gains him a surprising amount of notoriety,
and has fans always asking for more!
Aside from his Detective work and Elvis impersonations, Clint is perhaps best known around the region for his commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable populations, Special Olympics athletes, and the Foundation for Independent Living
(FIL)—a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting adults with disabilities. In 2009, Clint initiated monthly Crime Prevention Roundtable Talks at both Wynmoor Village and FIL here in Coconut Creek. These monthly talks have proven to
be powerful in building strong community partnerships. Both are still going strong to this day. He also organizes the annual Torch Run fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics, as well as the annual Summer Slam basketball game with FIL. Proceeds
from the basketball event go to FIL and Do The Right Thing of Coconut Creek. Clint is a man who wears many hats. He strives to affect positive change in our community no matter which one he’s wearing.
