Captain Fred Shelton began his law enforcement career in 1994 with the City of Pompano Beach Police Department. After a brief stint, he was hired with the City of Coconut Creek Police Department in 1995 as a patrol officer, where he has served for the last 29 years. During his tenure with Coconut Creek Police Department, he has held the positions of patrol officer, bike patrol officer, DUI officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, Motor officer, Aggressive Driving Enforcement officer, Road Patrol Sergeant, Road Patrol Lieutenant, Detective Lieutenant and currently in charge of the Operations Division as a Captain. Captain Shelton has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University in Miami. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer Development Course, class of 75.
