Chief of Police, Fred Hofer, boasts an impressive 28-year career in law enforcement, a testament to his unwavering commitment to public safety. His journey began in 1997 with the Coconut Creek Police Department, where he served as an EMT firefighter before cross-certifying as a police officer. This dual expertise instilled in him a deep understanding of emergency response and community care.

Throughout his tenure with the Coconut Creek Police Department, Chief Hofer has worn many hats, demonstrating exceptional versatility and leadership. He has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, bicycle patrol officer, Special Enforcement Team (SET) detective, training officer, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team officer, SWAT sniper, SWAT team leader, SWAT executive officer, sergeant, detective sergeant, and K-9 and Training supervisor. These diverse roles have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of police operations at all levels.

In June 2016, Chief Hofer's dedication and leadership were recognized with his promotion to lieutenant. In this role, he commanded the Special Enforcement Team (SET), Employee Development, and the SWAT Team, further solidifying his position as a key player in the department's success. Two years later, his exceptional performance earned him another promotion, this time to the rank of Captain.

In 2023, Chief Hofer reached another milestone, assuming the role of Deputy Chief of the department. This prestigious position reflects his vast experience, unwavering commitment, and proven ability to inspire and lead others.

Chief Hofer's commitment to professional development is evident in his academic achievements. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's 75th Command Officer Development School and the prestigious FBI National Academy. These programs have further enhanced his leadership skills and equipped him with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively manage law enforcement operations in a challenging and ever-evolving environment.
