Originally from Niles, Michigan, Lieutenant Kevin Valade sought the South Florida tropical climate in 1999, motivated by a desire to protect and serve his community, Lieutenant Valade pursued a career in law enforcement. Lieutenant Valade earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University and successfully graduated the Palm Beach State College’s Police Academy.

Valade was hired by the City of Coconut Creek in October of 2000 as a police officer and began his law enforcement career. He quickly demonstrated his dedication and leadership qualities rising to a Field Training Officer. Lieutenant Valade’s hard work and commitment were recognized in 2016 with a promotion to Sergeant, where he supervised patrol.

In August 2019, Lieutenant Valade transitioned to the Office of Professional Development and Excellence as the department’s first Strategic Planning Sergeant. Charged with developing the departments five year strategic plan, Lieutenant Valade organized the agency’s goals and objectives to align with the cities vision. This document ensures the Coconut Creek Police Department has a road map of where they want to be in the future and how they are going to get there. Leveraging his experience, Lieutenant Valade collaborated with accreditation and employee development on several projects. His commitment to continuous improvement culminated in his promotion to Lieutenant in the fall of 2022, where he now oversees the Office of Professional Development and Excellence, ensuring the highest level of ethical conduct and professionalism.

Over the span of his career, Lieutenant Valade has dedicated two decades to the SWAT team, assuming multiple leadership roles. He has also been an integral part of the Special Enforcement Team, focusing on narcotics and property crimes, and assisted in developing new officers, as a Field Training Officer. These diverse positions clearly demonstrate his versatility and dedication to diverse aspects of law enforcement.

A graduate of the prestigious Command Officers' Development School through the Southern Police Institute, Lieutenant Valade continues to refine his leadership skills and knowledge. His dedication to professional development ensures his continued effectiveness in guiding and inspiring others.

Lieutenant Valade’s career reflects a deep-seated devotion to serving the public and a steadfast commitment to his fellow law enforcement officers. He serves as an exemplary figure for future officers, embodying the impact of diligent effort and persistent self-betterment.
