George S. Gerber Memorial Park

This park was named after former City Commissioner George S. Gerber.  His wife Commissioner Marilyn Gerber, succeeded him after he passed away serving the community for 17 years before retiring in 2013. Gerber has athletic fields for permitting, basketball courts, jogging/walking paths, picnic amenities, playground, restrooms and a sand volleyball court.

Turkey Bowl Flag Football Tournament

  • A single elimination 5 on 5 flag football tournament for boys and girls
    • Games are 12 minutes each, running clock 
    • Maximum of 7 players per team; 5 player minimum
  • Ages 10 to 15
    • Age as of November 9, 2024
    • Two age divisions:
      • Ages 10 to 12
      • Ages 13 to 15
  • Saturday, November 9th
  • 9:00 AM check-in
    • Games begin at 9:30 AM
  • A donation of three (3) canned goods per player requested for participation
  • Held at George S. Gerber Park, 4715 NW 30th Street
  • Registration Details:
    • Registration is ongoing until November 6th or until full
      • Space is limited to 6 teams per age division
    • Pre-registration is mandatory
      • All players must be pre-registered on team roster; no teams/players will be accepted after November 6th
    • Players must pre-register as a team; individual players will not be placed on teams
      • A team captain may pre-register all players on team roster
      • Waivers signed by player parent/guardian and canned goods donation may be submitted as late as day of the tournament
        • Players without signed waivers will not be permitted to participate; no player substitutions will be accepted after November 6th
    • Walk in registration is accepted at the Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, and the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Boulevard
      • No online registration is available
